| Travel and Service Opportunities: Delcie obtained the possible dates for YSOP in 2008. They are the weekends of April 11, and 25, and May 2, or 16. Mark and Amelia will take these to the Youth Group leadership to choose a date. Crop Walk: A total of $ 5,611 was raised, with $1,393 from Essex walkers. Amelia will post pictures of the Crop Walk on the Outreach bulletin board. Neighbors in Need: $825.25 was donated. Habitat Projects: A sign-up sheet has been posted. Covenant to Care: Delcie has made contact with Judith Tellier from Middletown DCF. She will provide us with a new social worker contact. Christmas gifts will again be provided through Covenant to Care. Tags will be put up December 2 and gifts collected December 16th. Thanksgiving Offering: Amelia will announce the special Thanksgiving offering at the Stewardship Luncheon Nov. 11. Christmas Gifts: Mark will provide a short explanation of socially responsible giving via Church World Service and Unicef to be included in December Passages. Cindy Marshall will obtain more information about the donation of blankets, to be discussed at the December meeting of the Outreach Committee. Sponsorship of Orphans and Refugees: Sponsorship of an orphan was discussed. The issue of long term funding of an orphan was raised. The committee also explored the idea of sponsoring a refugee. George will provide more information about opportunities to sponsor a refugee at the next meeting of the Outreach Committee, when both orphan and refugee sponsorship will be discussed further. |
