| The meeting was called to order at 4:30pm by Mellicent with an opening reading from the daily reading book. Mellicent welcomed Pat and Judy (possibly) as new members of the committee. They will replace Mary Ann Pleva and Don Male who have stepped down. The minutes were reviewed and corrected. IV. B Corrected to “Who we are” vs. “Who We Want to Be” IV. E wording changed to “publishing seasonal ads which would be invitations for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter.” Addition after” School publications were considered.” Ann Easton will be consulted. Rev. Eiltz, not Rev. West gave the closing prayer. The minutes were accepted as revised and corrected. Let It Shine Celebration Mellicent has purchased ice cream, bowls, sprinkles, cherries, whipped cream, spoons, and napkins. Jane will get sugar wafer cookies. Children will place name in yellow synod bag. Name drawn will “throw the switch” to turn the lights on! Mitzi will bring a mock up of the West Ave. church sign. Mellicent has a copy of the sign to be on the hill of the church. She will bring it. (Final approval still must go through the Zoning Board. No difficulty is anticipated. Setup – about 4pm Saturday. Helpers may show up at 6pm. Herb Clark will be sure the light switch works. After the lighting, the church will light each night by timer. Expenses – Matt and Judy Winkler have given $5000. to pay for the project. The question arose – Should we still accept donations? Ken thought yes, since monies can be used for other Let It Shine projects ie. tech updates, signs, etc. We must make donors aware of possible uses of additional monies. Members of Committee will remind parishioners of the event by email on Friday. Video Video guy has done a lot of filming. Now the pieces need to be put in a logical order and a script written to go with it. Ken will work on this. There was discussion with suggestions. Dale Dickinson, Alison Karam were suggested as voices. Perhaps the script could be a conversation, a dialogue, about what its like to be a part of the church, activities, nourishing, engaging, etc. as the dialogue relates to the pictures. Signs Request for approval of variance submitted by 10/19 for 11/20 meeting Eagle Festival Mellicent has had contact with several program participants, but so far nothing has fit our needs. She will go back to the Audubon for further suggestions. Publicity Mellicent has emailed and waiting to hear from the Cable Community Calendar Ann Easton will provide form for an ad in the Valley Regional H.S. yearbook. Discussion of size of ad (half page sufficient), honor our church grads by name, etc. Pat Reed will check with Louisa Ketron about the possibility of an ad in the Ivoryton Playhouse Playbill. He will check on cost, and when playbill is produced for the new season. Discussion on seasonal ads as suggested by Bill West brought the suggestion from Judy Kells of using an eye-catching picture ie. cornucopia, wreath, ornament, angel. These ads would appear in local papers. Directory Next month Ken will share his ideas on this. Letters to new residents The most recent batch was sent in early September.
