| The meeting began with an opening prayer by Dud. Ken reported that Davida Foy Crabtree has accepted our invitation to be our Consecrating Speaker on November 11th . A brief discussion of the Endowment Survey resulted in a decision to refer to it in our appeals letter. Ken noted that we have to do a better job of managing our investments and is looking to the Land Trust’s endowment plan as a good example to emulate. Discussing the appeals letter, we decided to include: 1. Mention of the 5 year plan 2. Talk about investing in the future to free ourselves from reliance on the Endowment 3. Stress the growth of new offerings made available by Mitzi’s presence 4. Talk about the new youth initiatives and expanded music program 5. Mention need to support what we voted for in hiring Mitzi and refer to the need to grow our percent of giving. 6. Invite all to come and help “host” Davida, and stay for the celebration 7. Explain the passing out of pledge cards on the 11th and ask people to review their giving before coming to church that day. 8. Include a giving chart with percentages Ken said that he will be preaching a series about “Out of Bondage” in the weeks leading up to the 11th which could bolster our appeal. Assignments: 1. Dud will write the letters to Davida and a draft of the appeals letter which will be circulated before our next meeting. 2. Emily & Paula agreed to run the celebration luncheon which will feature quiches and salads 3. Matt agreed to compile the results of the pledge cards submitted on the 11th.
