| Al Berquist opened the meeting with a prayer. Pastor Ken asked that all committee meeting minutes be posted to the following email address: ecminutes@yahoo.com. Treasurer’s Report: Income is up and expense less YTD than 2005. Utilities -- Electricity has gone up suddenly. Al Berquist noticed that after the Maundy Thursday service and after a recent coffee hour, the nursery door was open and the (electric heat) thermostat was at a high setting. Al turned the thermostat down in both instances. It was suggested that a hot water heater time-of-day meter be installed to conserve electricity when hot water demand is low. Ted Bliss will discuss the meter possibility with the House and Grounds Chair. We will renew our service contract for heat. Scholarship Fund -- Balance is $13,462. Four church members have applied; a discussion followed regarding whether or not we should take all remaining funds to distribute now and then have a special drive to restart the fund. Parsonage Renovation Expense -- We will draw from the endowment for final payments when project is completed. One Great Hour of Sharing -- Check will be sent next week. Hand bells -- Are paid for. Have used $2,000 from endowment YTD. Treasurer’s Report was accepted. Council Meeting Report: March Council Meeting minutes are lost. Discussion to put solar cells on the roof was tabled. Pastor Ken and Treasurer Paula will discuss the feasibility of a church credit card. Old Business: Drainage Project -- Extensive work was done by Herb and Sherry Clark’s employees. We are extremely grateful for the Clark’s generosity in donating the materials and their crew. In addition to re-doing the current drains, their crew cleaned the gutters and installed a gutter guard. Ted Bliss with see that the Clarks receive a copy of the House and Grounds letter which expresses gratitude for the Clark’s generosity. Mad Hatters -- The troupe will rehearse here in May and June for $20/per session. We did not give them an option to continue in the Fall. May Breakfast -- Estimated profit is $1200, to be confirmed by actual profit when all monies accounted for. New Business: Trustee’s Picnic on June 15 -- Herb Clark kindly offered his home as the venue for the Trustee’s picnic. Nominations for new trustees -- The terms of trustees Dan Kottke, Erl Nord and Connie Brown expire this year. Dan Kottke will continue to assist with Insurance coverage decisions. George Penniman, Mugsie West and Susan Bristol have been nominated to serve as trustees; George and Mugsie have accepted. The nominating committee is waiting to hear from Susan Bristol; if she declines, we will ask the nominating committee to contact Lillian Mosa. Moderator -- Ann Callahan will not continue as Moderator for another term. Clerk -- After 20 + years as Church Clerk, Ginny Bliss will not continue for another term. Historian -- Dan Kottke attended an Historian’s meeting and has placed some original deeds, church records, etc., in a safe deposit box at a record’s retention site for UCC in Hartford. We have too many historical papers and leather-bound bibles to fit in a safe deposit box. Ted Bliss will give Dan a list of our local Safe Deposit Box contents. Dan will ask Don Male to assist in cataloging and in determining a safe repository for these items. Meeting Adjourned Respectfully submitted by Marian Messek for John Henderson, Trustee’s recording secretary. |
