| I.The meeting was opened at 7:05 in the Cove View Room. We were led in prayer by Chairman Betsy Steele. II.Minutes Chairman Steel commented that this is the third month that the minutes cannot be approved due to lack of a quorum. She asked if there were any comments on or corrections to the December draft. Celia Francis noted that it is written that Mitzi will preach on January 4th and 18th. Both are Thursdays. The correct dates are December 31 and January 7. III. Reports A. Mitzi asked how intinction is done in this congregation. It is done various ways. Deacons have been called upon to serve in alternate stations. It was agreed that most people prefer to receive the host from the minister. This month, we will have one station at the altar. Susan Christopher will assist Mitzi. Mitzi noted that Lent is coming fast and asked what traditions are observed by this congregation. The schedule was reviewed as printed in the January issue of Passages. Mitzi announced that her installation will be on March 4. She hopes that it will be preceded by a creative arts workshop on March 3. Preparations are under way. Mitzi will be in Israel February 4 through February 14, 2007. A quorum was achieved and the December minutes were approved with one abstention. Members prefer to review the October and November minutes again before commenting or voting. B. Committees Acolytes - Marianne reported that the matter is still on hold. Deacons will continue to light the candles prior to the service. Coffee Hour - Coffee hour is great. There are two slots to be filled for February. . Flowers- Robin has recovered from her surgery and is back! There was an open discussion of the removal and disposition of Christmas ornaments. Communion was discussed during Mitzi’s report. Readers Rick is in New Mexico. We have faith that everything is well prepared. Ushers The sign up sheet was passed. Visitors Notes Celia reported that five notes were sent this week and five in December. Several people have returned. Special Events Betsy asked Sally D’Aquilla to report on her experience as hostess for the funeral of Ginny Plumb. Sally reported that the church was so full that extra benches has to dragged out and people were standing. She managed it with help from Don Male and Mitzi. People did thank her for greeting them and representing the church. Youth The Youth took cookies to shut ins and helped Don Male with the luminaries. A pot luck dinner is planned. Council Betsy reported that an ad hoc pastoral relations committee has been formed for Mitzi. Payment for the bell choir director was suggested by the Personnel Committee. A compromise figure was agreed upon. It was agreed that significant policy matters and significant digressions from the budget should come before the congregation. IV. Old Business The recent comments from the pulpit about the Deacons were briefly discussed. It was agreed to ignore it and move on. Robin asked if it might be more appropriate for members of the choir to be responsible for the ramp. The placing of the cones and possible alternative solutions were discussed. The Deaconate budget was reviewed. It was agreed to ask for the same amount. Neither Betsey nor Wini will be able to attend the January 8 budget meeting. Sally will try to attend. The review of Advent was postponed until Pastor Ken returns. IV New Business The first three sections of the By-laws were reviewed.
