| I. Opening and Prayer Chairman Dud Bickford called the meeting to order with a prayer at 4PM . . II. Minutes The minutes were approved by consensus. III. Reports and Reviews A. Advertising and Marketing 1. Invitations Dud explained to Mitzi that invitations to worship with our congregation were sent to about fifty families that are new to the community. She was shown a sample. There have been no recorded responses. A copy of the list will be given to Celia Frances for reference. 2. The next mailing will be in January. B. News Notes 1. We will ask members if they have photos from previous holiday services that can be used as advertising. 2. Essex Events Mary Ann displayed a proof copy of the ad for Essex Events. Mitzi has suggestions that she would like to incorporate into the next ad. Dud will provide her with computer expertise to transform her ideas into copy. 3. Other Pictures will be taken at the Stewardship Lunch. Mitzi advised Mary Ann that when she submits photos to newspapers, it is wise to send a follow up Email. C. Mitzi - WELCOME 1. How can we help you? Mitzi suggested that we could help devise a calling list from the Directory. The committee immediately reviewed the Inactive list and gave a name by name update. The Active list will be reviewed with her in a similar fashion, piece by piece. Mitzi would like us to consider what we want to share with new people. Mitzi is reviewing the Long Range Planning Report. She read us portions of the section regarding members. 2. How can you help us? a. Profile Mitzi distributed copies of the updated Church Profile that was used by the search committee that found her. b. Website The Website needs to be kept current and linked to other sources. c. Radio Radio is another way to spread the word. d. Town Events Mitzi urged us to have a more visible presence at town events. We mentioned our participation in the Eagle Festival. e. Community Service 1.) Elderly Mitzi urged us to provide services to the elderly of the entire community. 2.) Youth Mitzi referred to the Tri-Town Youth and a program in Old Saybrook called Building Youth Assets. 3. “Teching “ up 1.
