Committee : Deacons
Date : 11/2/2006
Present : Pat Reed, Carey Reed, Susan Christopher and Wini Olson
Minutes :
I. A quorum was not achieved. By 7:05, those present, Pat Reed, Carey Reed, Susan Christopher and Wini Olson agreed to exchange information on the functioning of the committees.

II. Committees

Acolytes- Marianne had previously told Betsey that she would be unable to

attend. The Head Usher will remain responsible for lighting the candles.

Coffee Hour Sue needs volunteers for two or three Sundays in November and

December. She purchased a new coffee pot and a new tea kettle. There is

sufficient money in the Deaconate budget to cover the purchases and to supply

coffee for the rest of the year. Since concern was expressed about the constant

disappearance of cans of coffee, each group has been buying coffee and our

budget has not been drained.

Flowers- Betsy has been taking responsibility for flowers while Robin is

recuperating. The Poinsettias have been ordered for Christmas although a price

has not yet been established. Help will be needed to prepare the wreaths for

hanging on December 12. Marianne has agreed to oversee the bows for the indoor

wreaths. A Deacon will be asked to purchase the three fresh wreaths for the

exterior door.

Communion – Communion will be passed to parishioners for the November

service. Barbara MacGregor and the Holy Squirters will continue to prepare it. Readers- Rick is unable to attend tonight. He is working nights. Readers are in good order.

Ushers Pat believes that we can go back to four ushers for normal Sunday services. The group agreed. There will be services at 10 AM , 5PM and 9PM on Christmas Eve.

Youth - Carey reported that the Youth Group will participate in Clean Up Sunday and will meet for dinner on Nov. 19th.

Welcome Notes A repeat visitor commented on how welcome the note was. She indicated that she is “shopping for a church” and will come back. She asked to meet the charming person who wrote such a warm note.

Disaster Preparedness The fire drill scheduled for October 29 was postponed at the request of the alarm company. High winds were causing problems. The municipal disaster preparedness team appreciates our efforts and will count on us to serve as volunteers in the shelters that they are preparing.

III. New Business

Our budget is in good shape. Other than the tea pot and coffee pot, we have not had to replace any major equipment this year. Delcie and Rick donated a supply of new table cloths. The drain on the coffee supply stopped. Christmas expenses can be met and still leave us with a bit of a surplus. It was proposed that we ask for the same budget next year. Pat suggested that offer to be cut by 10%.

Deb Jones arrived. We reviewed the notes from all of the committees, thanked her for her willingness to have taken the notes and adjourned at 7:25 PM.

Respectfully submitted,

Wini Olson
