| Our meeting began at two times as 4 persons (including Rev. Peterkin) believed the meeting to start at 6:30 pm. In that first half hour: Marsha Birch suggested we invite the 6th grade Sunday School class to a “tour” of the church’s organ and a presentation by Marsha. Ken will help look into making that happen. Meg Gister will be working to attend our meetings on a regular basis this year. Meg will be tweaking her schedule to make that happen and in conjunction with Rev. Peterkin will working out a schedule most desirable and practical for rehearsing the different choirs. Meg will be using music from the Sunday School curriculum for the different groups (under the advisement of Rev. Peterkin). There may be a need to restructure groups according to available children in the different ages. Rev. Peterkin reinforced the determination to serve our children through our music and youth program rather than expecting them to serve the church. The assembled 4 agreed that the world is changing and our young people need less stressors. At 7 pm three others arrived: January 14, 2007 is MLK Sunday. We’d like to invite Ed Birch and his brass group once again. It was suggested that we give each band member a $20 stipend from our budget. Ray mentioned he had donated two items to Silver Lake Conference Center. A mixing board was used already during the summer camp season and Rev. Peterkin helped deliver a large sound monitor in September ona visit he was making there. Silver Lake’s co-Director Tim Hughes was very appreciative. Our 2007 budget was discussed. John Henderson moved that we use 2006’s budget as the template, unchanged. Meg seconded the motion and the motion was passed. The meeting adjourned at approximately 7:25 pm. Rev. Ken Peterkin |
