| Church School Starting Date: September 17 will be the first day of church school, instead of September 10, as originally scheduled. The change was made because on September 10 a special service in memory of 9/11 has been planned. Regular classes will be held on opening day. We plan to present Bibles to incoming fourth graders. Jennifer Rosenberg will be in charge of the cradle roll this year and will arrange for hearts to be given to incoming pre-K/K members. Alison will check with Meg Gister and with the music committee chairman, to find out if hymnals should be presented to new Joyful Noise members. All teachers and substitutes will be introduced to the congregation. Teaching Staff: Anne and George Penniman will not be teaching this year, so teachers are needed for 7/8 grade. Curriculum Orientation: A meeting for church school teachers and substitutes will be held on August 30 to familiarize them with our new curriculum, Seasons of the Spirit. Pastor Ken will lead the meeting. Teachers will be asked to submit requisitions for supplies needed for the first part of the school year. Supply Closet will be cleaned out and inventoried before classes start. Kick-Off Picnic will be held from 3-5 on September 17. Wendy Arnold will check on availability of Pettipaug Yacht Club and order hot dogs and rolls; Ken will order soda and will ask Youth Group to help with recreation; Jennifer will order paper goods; and Don Male will buy chips/snacks.
